Thy Daily Bread

Reflection:) When King Jesus shows His disciples how to pray He says to them to say this when they pray:

Our Father in Heaven Hallowed Be Thy Name

Thy Kingdom Come Thy Will Be done on Earth as it is in Heaven

Give us this day our daily bread

And forgive our trespasses as we have forgiven those who have trespassed against us

Lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from the evil one

Thy Kingdom Power and Glory Are Thine forevermore

Amen

(Matthew 6:9-13, Luke 11:1-4)

In Jesus’ example of Prayer, I see venerance to God The Father

And complete reverential obedience in the Words of God The Son directed to God The Father

When Jesus says to God the Father Give us this day our daily bread

Im reminded of Jesus being led into the wilderness immediately succeeding His baptism by His cousin John the Baptist

During that Time, Jesus ate no bread nor drank water for 40 days and 40 nights

The purpose of that journey was for Jesus to be tempted by the devil during that time period.

When Jesus was tempted by the devil to turn a rock into bread to satisfy His hunger, Jesus replied saying “It is Written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God(Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4)

Thank you Jesus, Word incarnate, for being the daily bread for those who belong to you.
